Completed just a few years ago in 2009 is the amazing Villa Vals by SeARCH and CMA. The concept behind the home was to build something that would not disturb the surrounding nature, a concept similar to the Productoria built hillside residence in Mexico.

Seeing that the home is built into a slanted hillside, the only way to gain access is the nearby wooden Graubünder shed, which connects to a tunnel running right through the mountainside. This place is currently available as a vacation destination, and can be rented for anywhere from €1750 to €3450 per week.

Spa House is set on the mountainside on the urban edge of Hout Bay, overlooking the bay and harbour, and surrounded by weathered sandstone formations. The primary design intention was to integrate the building with the powerful landscape and to derive its poetics from the qualities of its surroundings.
